DESCRIPTION

Class Flow: MODERATE (This class is open to both Handgun and Long Gun.)

Having to make movement inside a structure with an armed intruder is never advised. Even though this can put you at a major disadvantage, we recognize that there are certain circumstances when you may have to leave a known area for important reasons.

MDFI’s Beyond A Door course takes place in a 360 degree shooting environment where each student’s capabilities and information processing are put to the test. This course teaches students how to make efficient and effective movement in any structure around others all while processing information in an ever-changing environment. Students will make over 20 training runs throughout the two day class receiving personal feedback after every single evolution.

WHAT THIS CLASS IS:

This is a problem-solving class. Not a shooting class. You just happen to have a firearm with you. This is THE class to run your gear as you have it set up at home or your daily carry. This is the class to test your ability think, shoot, and move at the same time.

WHAT THIS CLASS IS NOT:

This class is not a tactical fantasy band-camp to wear cool gear, shoot a lot and take photos to post online. This class will not allow for showboats, egos, or bad weapon-handling skills. This class is not an excuse to dress up and play SWAT.

NOTE: THIS CLASS IS UTM/SIM ONLY IN A SHOOTHOUSE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO SIMULATE COMMON OCCUPIED STRUCTURES. LIVE WEAPONS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED* Please carry to class as legally warranted. Cadre will notify students of proper range-safety procedures prior to training.

For anyone who has watched movies with CQB and thought it was easy or those with elements of CQB in their self/home-defense plans, this class makes it painfully clear early on that CQB without training/practice is suicide. Thankfully, in true MDFI crawl/walk/run fashion, you get to go through the steps of solo/team CQB with one-on-one input from the Cadre, through many runs through the shoot house, all with NLTA sim guns. It is a great start to CQB training and an exceptional value compared to other options. I highly recommend taking this class!

After several square-range MDFI classes, this was my first 360-degree class, and it showed. The intensity of a Shoot House situation brought out several bad behaviors which had been lurking in my relatively relaxed target practice regimen. Thanks to Trek's patient expert guidance, and the extra runs afforded by a small class, I improved over the two days, and left with much to work on. I fully recommend this introduction to the 360-degree environment to anyone serious about home defense. Prepare to be challenged and humbled. Worth every penny!

Great class again, great feedback from every run. I've never done any structure clearing in my life, notes I have a basic idea on what to look for and expect.

Wow..... Coming from zero structure clearing experience, this course was the foundation I needed. I'll never look at buildings the same way. Some students had MIL/LE experience in structure work, and there were insightful discussions throughout the two days on differing approaches.
Ground rules and procedures for handling simmunitions were rigorously laid out - they are to be treated as full-blown live firearms. The controls that were put in place around safety and handling were impeccable.
Although the only mandatory prerequisite MDFI class for this is the Foundation-level course of whatever firearms platform you're using (handgun, carbine, shotgun), I am glad I had done Cover & Movement, as well as Low Light - I think I got more out of this class as a results of having done those other classes prior.
Overall, 5-stars all the way.

An excellent eye-opener for folks who have never done door entry and room clearing, and a great refresher for folks who have some prior training. It really reinforces how hard it is by yourself.
